Day to day, lesson to lesson and even minute to minute we, as teachers, are changing the role we play in the classroom (an expression for this in English is ‘to wear different hats’). One moment we may be consoling a student who has received some bad news (acting as a shoulder to cry on) the next we may be trying to split two students apart who are in the middle of a heated argument (and acting as a boxing referee (!!) or mediator). we are constantly changing hats.
